Challenged to prepare and present a rapid, direct, sustainable sourcing expansion strategy (in terms of product sourced and locations of production) to the Board of a leading UK retailer.
Gathered our relevant YourBoard experts (marketing, strategy, supply chain and sourcing) to put together a detailed expansion proposal (for example, the company, the second largest retailer in the UK, was still not sourcing clothing directly from Asia – and should be; by comparison, its biggest rival has been doing so since the mid 1990s), outlining significant cost savings to move a phased percentage of product from third party importers to be directly sourced over an agreed number of seasons. The proposal also outlined the necessary locations / personal / infrastructure required to service the expansion.
The Board approved the YourBoard proposal, who then facilitated its implementation with the Companies purchasing management team. As this was a phased, three-year project, a partner of Your Board was invited to join the Board as a NED to help ensure its full implementation and to offer advice around implement-ing further Group sustainable initiatives.
